Life Tidbits…
This last month has been quite busy. I’ve been helping my sister-in-law sell items from her store on eBay so she can try to stay above water. I think I did OK last month. I sold about $3500 worth of different items for her. I do have a little bit of an ulterior motive. I have loaned her money so if I help her, she is more likely to be able to pay me back. I kind of enjoy doing the eBay thing. I set up my own account and sold one thing of mine to work through the different things I need to set up. We’ll see how that goes.
I got to take a short vacation last week. I went up to my parent’s cabin with Mona. It was nice to get away from the kids and have some peace and quiet. We never get that at home right now. I may add a couple of pictures later so you all can see what it looks like up there. Had to get back to work as I’m doing an upgrade on our student system at work this next weekend. The week after that will be filled with meetings, then training classes are going to be starting up before school stars at the end of the month. Then things will get really busy
Mona will be starting back to school this fall. She is currently an LPN and wants to work toward becoming an RN. She has some prerequisites to do before she can apply to the nursing program. Money is going to be tight while she goes to school unless she can get a student loan. I’m hoping that will work out because last time she was in school, her student loan was paid off after she worked a year as a nurse. The government has some programs that are supposed to help get more nurses in the workplace. This is also the one case where it is good that we can’t get married so they do not consider my income in regards to financial aid. We pay extra taxes on health benefits, tuition reductions and the fact we can’t file jointly so I figure it is even in the long run
Being so busy, I have actualy done very little gaming in the last month. I did finish Lego Indiana Jones and got back to Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction, but really not much of either on my PS3. I have been playing Picross on my DS (puzzle game) primarily before going to bed. EBay has definitely taken up some of my gaming time. Although i have missed out on Socome Twosdays because I have forgotten what day of the week it is. With some new games coming out and new people getting PS3s I am looking forward to more PS3 action in the near future.
Wow your quite the awesome ebay seller. We quit loaning money to people a few years ago. I have lost two cousins whoom i was very good friends with by loaning them money. I didn’t even care that much if I was repayed but it created so much awkwardness that they pretty much avoid me now. I doubt I will ever loan money again, if I want to help it will be as a gift.
I really want to see pic’s of the cabin and surrounding area. It’s nice that you two have a quiet get away place.
Gaming season is almost opon us. I have been blowing through backlog and collecting trophies. I hope you will have time to game with us more this winter. With NIAC making the move to ps3 it looks like I will get to game with most of my friends finally
Mona sister does give me good items to sell. I do the research, picture taking, posting and question answering. I send out all of the smaller items and Gina does the larger items Fedex Ground. It is actually kind of addicting watching how much an item will go for. I will probably post some new stuff tomorrow. Haven’t gotten back to it yet since vacation.
I will get back to playing. I have been waiting for NIAC to get his PS3 to see what games he and others will get. I will be getting the new Socom game (may go down and reserve it this weekend).
Jules, I got the pre-order for the full-on SOCOM, and I got the “BETA” registration code Wednesday night. I am waiting on the actual code for me (and two friends, although one of them just commented here before I did). Did you already get one via Qore?
I am interested in the consideration of you that the goverment would have for loaning/granting money to Mona. Wouldn’t it be very “left-handed” if they said, “oh, sorry, your ‘household income’ is too high”. Hypocrites.
LOL, I guess I should post a blog about my PS3 and what games I have. FYI I am returning R&C, Tools Of Destruction, seeing if I can’t get something Lee would like for her laptop.
Julie I would definitly beta Socom before you decide if you want it. I’m still worried they haven’t gotten back on the right track. It bums me out you can’t play Burnout. That game still seems like “the game” so far and with all the updates they still have planned it will be something we play for a while. I still play cod4 and I think Resistance2 will be a big hit. Oh and I would be curious what you thought of Rock Band.
I may try Burnout again (taking a ginger pill ahead of time). I just have to know when to stop. From the research I did about motion sickness, I may be able to condition myself to not get sick.
I wasn’t able to play Rockband. I couldn’t get the my PS3 to recognize the guitar. Not sure what I was doing wrong, but I gave it back to Mona’s sister.
NIAC… If I was married. Our joint income would be considered when analysing whether Mona could have Financial Aid or not. Odd are in that case she wouldn’t be able to get it. With her income (about 1/3 of mine, she only works about 1/2 time), she can get Financial Aid.
I did get the 1st Qore issue so I should be able to get into Socom’s beta starting next week. One of the other reasons I’m looking at getting Socom is because of the headset. I’m using a USB one right now. It may even work with my cell phone.
OMG, tell me about it. I am going to end up in the hospital for back injury because of my short (shut up) cord on my headset.
If SOCOM sucks, I will still have a BT headset out of it. LOL.
But, if you two WERE married, would Washington even recognize it?
Damnit…OREGON
I think for Oregon to recognize a marriage, I would still have to become and certified Domestic Partner (insert joke here), which I am (in Oregon).
The issue is the Federal government wouldn’t and doesn’t recognize a marriage or a domestic partnership from a state (or Canada). The tax rules and the financial aid rules are through the federal government.
This next tax season it going to be interesting. I can file jointly on my state return, but not on my federal return.
So, you are recognized in OR (and a few other states???) but the “United” States is not actually united on this?
How … obtuse.
Regardless of how it happens, tell Mona she has people who are happy she’s doing it and pullin’ for her. (And you, of course, LOL)
HEY…does this mean no long contracts away?
Yep, no long term contracts for a while. She may still work a weekend here and there to help pay a bill or two. We’ll see how financial aid goes.
Hi Jules, nice catching up with you and I hope we can get in a game again soon enough. Still no baby as of 6:40 pm PST.
Hola! Hey, I tried ginger, since I have the same motion sickness problem with games. It really really works! Just take it in the morning with your breakfast and it works the whole day! I take 550 mg. If I know I am going to be up late playing though I might take another with dinner.
LOL … umm … ya.
LOL, shut up Chuck.
Merry Christmas Julie!
Ya, Merry Chr…WTH?
Jules…where are you?
I know… I know… I will get around to saying happy spring or something.
LOL, you better!
Wow you wrote your last blog on my birthday and I’m pretty old so maybe time for a new one?
